American History X

American History X was directed by Tony Kaye in 1998. To end my blog, I’m going to tell you about the craziest movie I’ve watched so far. This movie might not be for everyone due to the graphic scenes and kind of touchy topic. The film is about Derek Vinyard, played by Edward Norton, and his brother Danny who are Neo-Nazi. Derek goes crazy and kills two black men who are robbing his house. He then goes to jail for a few years for the killings. While he is in jail, he realizes that he needs to change so his brother doesn’t follow after him and his family is safe. After he gets out, he devotes himself to changing and getting as far away as possible from the Neo-Nazi life. He beats up his boss and everyone starts to come after him. He finally makes Danny realize that the life their living is bad and they need to leave. Something happens to Danny and Derek blames himself for what happened. The cinematography is fantastic with its black and white scenes and its unique angles. This is just a very unique story that no other movie could of captured better. It’s a very crazy movie with some hard to watch stuff in it, but it is a cinematic marvel that people will enjoy. I would recommend this movie to anyone who likes a very well made story. It is very unique and the production is amazing. The movie really is something you’ve never seen.
